A very popular dry fly which uses both brown and grizzly dry fly hackle. The fly can be tied with different wing types, the upright wing style explained here is the original version of the fly. The parachute wing style is also very popular.

Instructions
1
Place the hook in the vise and secure the thread behind the eye. Position the thread 1/3 of the shank length behind the eye.
2
Prepare two grizzly hackle tips to form wings that are the length of the hook shank. Tie in the tips and stand the wings up. Run the thread along the shank to the start of the hook bend.
3
Align and tie in a few hackle fibers to form a tail. The tail should extend the length of the shank beyond the start of the bend. Return the thread the start of the bend.
4
Form a dubbing rope and then create a slightly tapered body that ends slightly beyond the halfway point of the shank.
5
Tie in the two dry fly hackles behind the wings, clip the excess stem and run the thread to behind the eye leaving room to form a head.
6
Wrap and tie off the first hackle by taking two turns behind the wings, and two in front. Remove any excess.
7
Wrap and tie off the second hackle by taking two turns behind the wings, and two in front. Remove any excess.
8
Form a small head with thread, whip finish and apply head cement.
