Bivisible

A classic dry fly that consists of nothing more than the hook, thread, and 2 colors of hackles. The following pattern describes a black and white version, the black hackle can be switched out for any other contrasting color with brown being a very popular alternative.

Place the hook in the vise and secure the thread behind the eye. Form a even under body along the shank of the hook, position the thread a little before the start of the bend.

Prepare a black cock hackle and tie it in near the start of the bend, the bare stem should end 2 eye lengths behind the eye to ensure an even underbody.

Wrap the hackle along the hook shank in touching turns until you reach the end of the stem. Secure and snip off the excess.

Prepare a white cock hackle and tie it in where the black hackle stops., the bare stem should extend to about half an eye length behind the eye.

Wrap the hackle along the hook shank in touching turns until you reach the end of the stem. Secure and snip off the excess.

Form a small head with thread, whip finish and apply head cement.
